MAMA MYRA JONES

Founding Angel Mother

Myra Jones was born the middle child of three in an Air Force family.  She grew up in a beautiful home environment. She excelled academically and socially. Her thirst for travel took her to Liberia, West Africa, as an exchange student. She always loved people and life. She became a parent at 24: a first-born child and a handsome son, Diante Jones.  At 28, her second child was born, a beautiful daughter, Tequia. Myra was a single, proud, hard-working mother who provided and cared for her children and enjoyed motherhood's joys. She has worked in the customer service field as well as caregiving. Early in life, she became a grandmother, which soon became another priority that she took pride in.

In 2016, life took a devastating turn of events, changing lives forever.  An unknown assailant took the life of her son, Diante. This devastating event left her entire family in total disbelief and disarray. In 2017, Myra began her journey of finding peace while becoming one of the founding mothers of BE-IMAGINATIVE, a social enterprise dedicated to healing our grief and loss through multidimensional storytelling. She uses her powerful gifts as a sacred space holder, providing healing experiences to aid herself, her family, and her community as a founding Mother of BE-IMAGINATIVE.  Myra is a phenomenal author, poet, and healer. It's been Four and a half years since the death of her son. Myra vows that as long as she's given breath, she will continue to speak his name and work towards helping other families find their peace.  She plans to play a fundamental part in making a better place for her 6 grandchildren and the rest of our youth.
