Social Media Manager (volunteer)
Volunteer Opportunity: Digital Storytelling & Community Engagement Coordinator
Location: In-Person/Remote (Preference for Bay Area-based candidates)
Hours: Flexible, approx. 5-10 hours per week

About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and creative Digital Storytelling & Community Engagement Coordinator to support BE-IMAGINATIVE’s online presence. This is an exciting volunteer opportunity for someone who believes in the power of storytelling, healing, and community engagement. If you are looking to gain hands-on experience in social media strategy while making a meaningful impact, this role is for you!
Responsibilities
Content Creation & Curation
Develop engaging content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube (Reels, stories, posts) and our newsletter.
Create visually appealing graphics and videos using Canva or other editing tools.
Write compelling blog posts and captions that align with our mission and brand voice.
Repurpose long-form content (such as live sessions, workshops, and blog posts) into shareable posts.
Community Engagement
Respond to comments and DMs in a thoughtful and timely manner.
Engage with our online community to build trust and meaningful relationships.
Interact with aligned accounts to increase visibility and reach.
Strategy & Growth
Help plan and execute a content calendar aligned with our campaigns, offerings and events.
Research trending topics, hashtags, and content formats to increase engagement.
Monitor analytics and provide insights on what’s working and areas for improvement.
Support strategies to grow our online presence and deepen community impact.
Marketing & Outreach Support
Assist in promoting BE-IMAGINATIVE workshops, events, and digital offerings.
Support email marketing efforts (e.g., drafting newsletters, scheduling content).
Coordinate collaborations or features with aligned brands, influencers, or platforms.
Who You Are:
Passionate about healing, creative storytelling, and social impact.
Familiar with or eager to learn social media management for mission-driven work.
Creative, organized, and self-motivated with a strong eye for design and storytelling.
Strong writing skills with the ability to craft engaging captions and community-focused posts.
Comfortable with basic video editing (Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts).
A self-starter who can take initiative without needing micromanagement.
Bonus Skills (Not Required but Preferred):
Experience with social media scheduling tools (Later, Planoly, or Meta Business Suite).
Graphic design experience (Canva, Photoshop, or Adobe Suite).
Email marketing experience (Mailchimp).
Ability to write blogs or newsletter content with a social media-friendly approach.
